Monthly Archives: September 2011
On Saturday, September 24th the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House held its annual Fall Fair and Tonari Gumi was there. Two of our dedicated volunteers, Kimiko Higashi and Sartre Jean-Gilles, staffed the Tonari Gumi table, selling our best-selling Tonari Gumi cookbook, “Home Away from Home”. They also sold t-shirts in support of Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief. We’re fortunate to have such fantastic volunteers!
We have been trying our best to meet the needs of people in our community.
We are very excited to announce that we have expanded our meals on wheels service to Richmond, thanks to cooperation with Izumiya Japanese Marketplace. We are also starting a Japanese support group for family caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Please check “New Services” to learn more details.
We offer workshops and seminars by inviting community organizations and professionals to present topics that interest people in our community, such as cancer, arthritis, wills and estates. On October 4th, we are inviting the Tsudoi Breast Cancer Support Group to talk about how to discover breast cancer in the early stage. On October 13th, Bryan Dunn, LLP and his Japanese colleagues will answer your questions regarding the Family law, Real Estate Law and the Wills and Estate Law in Japan and Canada. This is a one day one-on-one consultation. For more information, please contact Tonari Gumi at 604-687-2172.
