As a non-profit charitable organization, the operation of Tonari Gumi is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors that is accountable to its members for all of its activities.
In order for Tonari Gumi to be properly managed and to pursue the policies and directions desired by its members, Tonari Gumi members need to attend the Annual General Meeting and participate in the election of its Board of Directors, and approve the financial statements for the past year, 2015.
This is your opportunity to meet and talk to your Board members and provide your input and concerns as to the current and future Tonari Gumi. Refreshments served.
Tonari Gumi, together with the Greater Vancouver JCCA, Nikkei Place Foundation, Powell Street Festival Society, Vancouver Japanese Language School and Japanese Hall and the Vancouver Buddhist Church will be participating in a community-wide bowl-a-thon on Sunday, February 21st. The bowl-a-thon will take place at Rev’s Burnaby Bowling Centre, 5502 Lougheed Highway in Burnaby. The event will raise funds to help the GVJCCA continue providing The Bulletin magazine for the community.
Tonari Gumi will have 2 teams, one for elders and a second for younger people. The registration fee is $150 for a 6-member team or $25 per team member. Each team member will be provided with a pledge form to solicit donations from the community.
