TG Hiking Club’s Road Trip to Fairmont Hot Springs Resort

Tonari Gumi Hiking Club has visited Fairmont Hot Springs Resort near Banff National Park on April 2nd to 5th to complete successful 2016 club activities.

We were able to spend relaxing time together in the middle of BC’s vast natural beauty. Despite a long drive to BC Alberta border (11 hours one way!), everyone enjoyed scenic drive in high spirit. The group drove Highway No. 1 to Kamloops, Golden through Radium Hot Springs to Fairmont Hot Spring. Visited Kimberly, a town with highest altitude in BC, for hiking and natural hot springs, Lussier Hot Springs on next day. We decided to drive Highway No. 3 to Vancouver, which took us through many small towns familier to JC community, Cranbrook, Greenwood, Rossland and Osoyoos. Many Japanese were forced to intern during WWII. Remembering JC communities’ history, their perseverance and effort and hardship they faced, for which next generations of Japanese immigrants are forever grateful.

This trip was my last project as Tonari Gumi staff. I have enjoyed working together with various members and volunteers. I will be continue joining hiking club activities as a volunteer. I would like to thank you for your support and hope to see you at Tonari Gumi.

As a non-profit charitable organization, the operation of Tonari Gumi is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors that is accountable to its members for all of its activities.

In order for Tonari Gumi to be properly managed and to pursue the policies and directions desired by its members, Tonari Gumi members need to attend the Annual General Meeting and participate in the election of its Board of Directors, and approve the financial statements for the past year, 2015.

This is your opportunity to meet and talk to your Board members and provide your input and concerns as to the current and future Tonari Gumi. Refreshments served.
